there are free walking tours where you just give the guide a tip. we had a great one, a gal from Alaska! also i really enjoyed seeing Rembrandt's home and studio. of course the Keukenhoff Gardens are a must even if it isn't spring. buy your tickets ahead for the Anne Frank house...i waited almost three hours to get in but it was worth it...very moving. The Rijks museum is great and needs a few hours, also. i loved just strolling around and looking in the souvenir shops, as well. great photo ops in front of the Rijks museum.
