NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO CORRECT A FREQUENT ASSERTION OF THE IGNORANT. The inscription "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" IS NOT WRITTEN ON THE STATUE OF LIBERTY.

Although France gave us the Statue of Liberty, it did not provide for a PEDESTAL on which to mount the Statue. One of the fund raisers to pay for the Pedestal was American poet Emma Lazarus.

In appreciation for her fund raising efforts, a display was set up INSIDE THE PEDESTAL in her honor. Included in the display was her poem "The New Colossus" which includes the phrase quoted above. It was not intended to be regarded as a PART of the Statue or of the Pedestal.

And it is certainly not American law or policy. America cannot absorb all of the people who want to immigrate here, and certainly not those who cannot contribute to the economy or the culture by getting a job and assimilating into our way of life.

Don't let anyone brow-beat you about the poem.

The brown/black 3rd worlders...THEY are the majority of immigrants. It all changed in the 1960s. We went from being a white country to now...we're 50:50...50% white...50% everyone else. Within 30 years...we're 20-25% white...and a shell of our former glory.

The poem was also written about white immigrants there was NO black/brown immigration back then.

In the 1890s, right after that poem is written...immigration to the US is:

You can clearly see that immigration has reversed...from mostly white to mostly brown. 16 million Hispanics immigrated to the US in the year 2000...it's higher now. We're being invaded and the government is aiding it.
