Those traits have gone by the way side. It is now a party that promotes conspiracy theories, personal attack politics, and condones the seat of our government lying to the american public and debasing american institutions.
This is not meant as a support post for liberalism, just an experienced Republican replying to your post to make them the good guy and they are not.
YES, I agree we need more middle ground and statesman, but in this specific and present situation, we are not going to have it because the party has sold out to the extremists.

IMO the post that you responded to was well written and thought out. Not sure where you get from his post (or maybe a her, sorry don't know) that he was trying to make the Republican party the good guy as you say. It seemed to me that he was calling out both parties, and politics in general, as the culprits in bringing down our society. I couldn't agree with him more. It would be interesting to hear from you, not just what you don't like about the Republican party, but what you don't like about the Democrat Party. It seems that much of your posting is very one-sided, although you call yourself an independent. Hasn't the Democrat party also sold out to extremist ideology? Are you suggesting that they don't lie, lack morals, or participate in personal attacks as you say the Republican party does? Seems to me that neither party has sole ownership of these traits.
