Ice maker icing outside of ice bucket. Caused interruption in ice making.

Called a highly recommenced repair guy. He felt this type of ice maker a problem and refused the job.

He said he referred a company (A & E) to his aunt and she was satisfied.

I called A & E. They told me it would cost $99 just for the diagnostics. told them I had already knew what was wrong with it. Set an appointment with a window of 8:00 AM to 12noon. the repair guy showed up at 3:00PM.

The repair guy shot a laser to gauge the refrigerator and freezer temperature and said they were accurate. He removed the ice tray but did not inspect the ice maker

From then on he was on his computer. I asked if he had the parts to replace/repair. He said no he had to order the part. He then went back to his computer and told me that with the diagnostic, part and labor the cost would be $325.26 BUT IF we purchased their warranty he would take 50% off that price. He had two programs $49.9 per month , $59.99 per month for all our electric appliances. I replied that in just 10months we would have already paid $490+ ( repair only $325.26)and so rejected the warranty.

the repair guy went back to his computer and saying he forgot the labor codes?????and the cost was going to be $545. My wife an amiable expressive came out of her chair and in a polite but firm voice told him to leave.

I called Samsung and stopped at the store of purchase.

A & E is one of the repair companies Samsung has authorized to do their work A & E is really Sears.

Samsung speculated that our problem may well rest with the ice bucket (storage tray) which ranges from $104 to $150.

Samasung refrigerators has three different types of trays One has a handle to insert fingers and pull out. the other two you have to lift the tray at the bottom then pull out. Of the latter two one has a snap bracket that ensures a tighter seal and the other does not.

I'll fiddle with the tray a bit and if it doesn't work order a new tray

How would we describe A & E? We were left with an uncomfortable feeling but do not and will not draw judgment one way or another. Is there a business connection to the repair guy that recommended A & E. don't know?
