I received my concealed weapon permit in 2011, at that time Florida has issued 900,000. With a population of 19 million that meant about 1 in 20 was carrying. The latest I've seen is now we have 1.5 million concealed weapon permits, that's about 1 in 13. As someone posted earlier, we see these mass shooting in the states with strict gun laws, why, because they know only the people wearing a uniform is going to shoot back. In Florida, not the same, in fact with the military background of so many Villagers, I'm sure our quota is probably 1 in 10 is carrying. I think if someone were to try something at one of the squares they would be in serious jeopardy before the police ever arrived. The Pulse nightclub shooting is a perfect example of gun laws, that's one of the places a concealed carry permit is not allowed, a nightclub. I'm sure the shooter was aware of that.
