My Dad was the catastrophe manager for a major insurance company for much of the ten years they lived in Rohnert Park, CA. He handled a lot of disasters like the one occurring in Houston. Namely Andrew here in Florida and some in Hawaii and CA.

My heart goes out to these people. I cannot donate platelets until late September but donating blood, platelets, plasma, or red blood cells are one way we can help these people. The people in Houston who usually donate have no buses or blood collection centers to get to in many of these areas affected by the hurricane and its rain.
