Yes, there are Pigmy Rattlesnakes in and near The Villages. I was playing on a course just south of Leesburg when a golfer in the foursome in front of us was bitten by a Pigmy Rattler. It was quite a commotion. He made the mistake of reaching for a golf ball in an area where it was obviously the snakes turf. After spending the night (very sick) in the hospital he was okay. I do not know what other species of snakes live in this area.

Snakes move on when they see you but do protect what they consider their turf.
