Much of that is because of the hundreds of years of the slave trade in Africa.
I met a "prince" from one of these tribes on the west coast of Africa. He was in my
Minorities in American Society course at the University of Nevada, Reno and was one of the most racist people I have ever met. He thought that all blacks in the United States were inferior because many of their ancestors had been captured and sold by this "prince's" ancestors. I sat next to this guy for a whole Semester.
