Re: How has the INTERNET changed your life?
"How has the internet changed your life, huh?"
Well, the first answer that popped into my head was, "What life?"
Not really the case. But my answer of first pop is often smart :edit: ed.
I love having a world of information just a click away. But there are days when this puppy can sure get the best of me.
I know I come on here and whine around that this computer is in my kitchen. And how it's too accessible and yaddayadda I should move it. Whine. Whine. Oh woe is me.
But do I ever move it. (rhetorical question there)
For instance, at this very moment in my life (real) life, I have two big projects I am working on. But they are projects on which I have to answer only to myself. The best/worst kind of projects. At this point in my life, I am the boss of me.
So I came into the kitchen just now. A girl has got to eat you know. And I thought I would just check my email. And on my email was my daughter. Also having a late lunch. And what is she doing? She is shooting through cyberspace to her mother, pictures of dresses from Nordstrom's online shopping.
Some of you may remember that over the past few weeks and days, I have been telling you, in the fem forum, all about my shopping. I threw myself upon the mercy of kind strangers out there in TOTVland. And you helped me. Yes you did.
And in that thread, those of you who were shopping with me, well, you know, I think we went out for a gossipy lunch, too. We talked about a bunch of other stuff. And it was fun along with being helpful.
And when you think about all that, it is pretty darned amazing -- and a little odd for an old baby boomer to think about.
So anyway, I helped my daughter make a decision about her dress -- for the same wedding I have been talking about with some of you, in that dress thread.
So when I should be working on my projects, I am sitting here talking(?) with my daughter about her dress. And I am typing words like "ruched." I did not even know I knew such words.
Her shopping is so easy. You see, my daughter is a lovely stickwoman so she looks wonderful in everything. (mirrormirroronthewallwho'sthefairestofthemall) -- No! No! Please do not be horrified! I am just kidding about that part. Just messing around. As I am wont to do. When I do not want to work on projects.
And I am the one who told her about Nordstrom's online in the first place. And I talked to some other people about it. We are emailing monsters now. Shopping together. It is madness.
So anyway, after checking email and then the stock market, I decided, "Just One Look" at TOTV. And then I saw this question. And. . ."That's all it took."
And now I have once again begun to speak in song lyrics. So I know it is time to get back to those projects. But I just wanted to let you know how the internet has changed my life.
