I've always been a huge Petty fan. I remember when he "opened" (equal billing, time onstage for each) for the Dead at Berkeley's Greek. My friend was a Dead fan, so he more or less slept through Petty. I slept through the Dead (long night the night before). He really put on a great show. I can't say how sad I am to hear of his death.
