Re: John Edwards Admits To Having An Affair

One thing that can be said about all Presidents, from George Washington to George Bush, and future Presidents, and all candidates, past and future ones; they were, are and will be human, with all the faults and weaknesses that go with being human. Do we disqualify someone from being President because of a human weakness but then accept them to be president of a large company, or a doctor who is going to operate on us? I suggest we concentrate on what we hire (elect) the President to do which is to manage the Executive Branch of Government according to the Constitution. Therefore, we should concentrate on the issues involved in running the Government. If I eliminate everyone whose personal life actions I may disagree with, I eliminate everyone in the human race... except me.

EXCELLENT POINTS. For me the difference here (Edwards) is that he LIED and in addition his family was really a large part of his "schtick" during the campaign.
NOBODY is perfect for sure....I know that this will get some folks going, but give G Bush some credit...when he was asked while running if he ever took drugs, he simply said I am not going to answer that.
Given you presented a valid and interesting comment, and if I am digressing too much, feel free to slap me down.....last evening (I think) a poster told me that is was not important about Sen Obama's associates (I apply the same criteria to Sen McCain) but the subject was Sen Obama. I mentioned that one of my concerns was the character of most if not all of those who trained him and advised him early on. I was told that associates do not count. What do you think ?
