I don't get to vote on who's going to be hired to be president of some company, I do get to
vote for who's going to be the leader of the greatest country on the planet.
Your line of thought makes it ok for anyone who might be a good manager to be President. What about a child molester? is that ok?
Our society is harmed every time we cop out about personal issues. To me character matters. a belief in God matters, Morals matter, being an honest trustworthy person matters. Someone who has the nerve to get up and look us in the eyes and lie to us and his family, that matters to me.
