Infuriating? It makes me laugh...the crap they believe...I mean BELIEVE with "all their being". Why? It was pounded into them as children...YOUNG children who don't know better.
They won't look because they're SO brainwashed they can't. They can't imagine anything else...because it's ALL they've known since they can remember. God God God.
Most know nothing of the religion they supposedly believe. All they get is...believe and love in Jesus...and you're golden. They ignore all the rest. They don't concern themselves with the OT at all. The difference between the OT God and Jesus...is night and day...it's schizophrenic.
Of course the flood myth is older than the Bible...it's the oral story of the end of the last ise age when the glaciers began melting and the oceans rose 300-400Ft. It flooded EVERYTHING. Everywhere men lived...flooded...EVERYTHING men had built...flooded and was destroyed. It WAS a "great cleansing"...but NOT for the reasons YOU think. The world IS "6,000 years old"...since the FLOOD...since mankind had to "start over".
The part about the 40 days and 40 nights...closer to 40 or 400 years... The Mediterranean flooded when the gap a Gibraltar was breached. The Black Sea flooded when Bosphorus was breached.
If people knew...if they were educated...they wouldn't believe. WHY do you think mans GREATEST sin is "knowledge"? Eating from the tree of knowledge.
