Re: prospective villager asking questions
I am a villager, a snowbird, who together with my husband bought a home in Hadley in April and have inhabited all of 20 days. I have learned so much from this site and from my four visits to TV.
The Morse family owns the development of The Villages. (TV) They have since the '80's. Recently in the past few years the original family member died and his child and grandchildren have taken over the business. It has boomed since then and I think his heirs have done a wonderful thing with this Paradise. WAIT until you experience it!
I do know that although friendships are frequently formed on your street, friendships are also formed on the golf course, at the clubs and organizations, at classes, while dancing and just while walking around. People wave at you from golf carts and talk to you on the street. I don't know why. Our grown up age? Sharing this wonderful place? Enjoying life to the fullest?
We had not one tiny problem getting homeowners insurance when we bought and it was quite reasonable.
There aren't indoor pools because there isn't very much cold weather I would guess. I read that all pools are kept to a temperature of 83 degrees in the "winter months".
I welcome you to this place. I was so against retirement in Florida until we visited friends who bought here just this January. Now my husband and grown daughter who lives with us have a lovely home in Hadley and a whole new set of lively, funny, warm and wonderful friends.
Come on down!!
P.S. The previous post by Muncle is correct as usual. Go to the top of this page and type in CDD's (in search) and you will get a plethora of information.
