I do not believe you did anything wrong at all.

More belittling than anything is the very use of that phrase. It denotes a superiority attitude and is meant to demean anyone who disagrees with him or her.

You offered up the history to show its inception and that is great.

"Is nothing more" was very clear and I might add....accurate. As I said the use of the term over and over to avoid discussion is what is a "belittling attitude"
