My doctor prescribed a daily B-12 supplement and I have done some internet research on it. Vitamin B-12 is one of the "water soluble" vitamins, which means that it is easily dissolved in water and usually any excess is naturally excreted from the body. Instead of the prescription high level B-12 tablets, I now take a Men's 50+ multivitamin, which has 1667% of the recommended daily requirement of B-12, and my most recent blood test showed me within the normal B-12 levels.
