I've witnessed first-hand how drastic this is for some people. In Michigan our pastor,'s wife had to sit out in the narthex because of her perfume /hair spray allergy. She needed to take meds to come to our home due to the dog and former cats.
My feeling is take a good shower with a mild soap and skip the perfume. It can choke even those of us with no allergies.
