This brings back a couple of memories. First, I was staying at the Sheraton Cadillac in Detroit (Not sure it still exists). I was on the top or next to the top floor. There was a convention of southern baptist women in the city and the hotel was filled with the conventioneers. In the morning, I got on the elevator and it stopped at every floor, 29 if my memory is correct. and another lady got on and each was swimming in perfume. By the time the elevator reached the first floor, I thought I would pass out. The other was I worked for a consulting company in Cambridge Mass. and we had a client, a large New York bank and had an appointment with a senior exec. As was common then, the big wigs from Harvard and MIT Sloan school of business were actively earning side money on consulting gigs and on this trip, I was flying with the assistant dean of men from MIT's Sloan. I still remember his name. While in flight, I wondered where the hell the smell was coming from. Well this guy was a Scot and I guess he took a shower every other month whether he had to or not. I being naive about such things, I couldn't believe this. The lady we met with was most gracious and I hoped and prayed during the meeting that her nose was less than functional. I'll probably catch hell from all Scots now. Amazing what we remember.
