Do YOU think it was about FREEING the slaves? Because if you do...you're just as stupid as those you mock. It was a WEAPON used against the south. It freed THEIR slaves...the slaves in the confederate states...none of the slaves in the north were freed. Slavery was used as a weapon of war...it certainly wasn't a humanitarian effort. Lincoln knew we'd never live together, he wanted them sent to Liberia. Slavery provided an advantage in the north because they could manufacture a product cheaper. The whole anti-slavery campaign in to get jobs for white men back. Free states were free because white's didn't want competition from slave holders who could do the work cheaper. Slavery was popular in the south because the blacks were used as draft animals and "combines" picking cotton and other crops. NOBODY wanted to be out in the fields in the heat with the bugs...so black slaves were brought in to do it. They were also counted as 3/5ths because of their immense numbers. The NORTH wanted them counted as 3/5ths...NOT the south.
We ARE LIED to...constantly...about everything.
