Iranian women wear jeans and tee shirts. Saudi women wear abayas, the full black covering. Iranian women dance to hip hop, Saudi women cannot leave their home without a male escort.

President Trump has stoked in middle class Iranians something their leaders long failed to arouse: a strong sense of nationalism and “widespread public support for the hard-line view that the United States cannot be trusted,” suggests Thomas Erdbrink in the New York Times.
