Depends. We have dogs so our laminate needs to be covered with rugs (which I hate) so that they do not slip or tear it up with their claws. Tile is durable, beautiful and permanent. Also laminate is a floating floor which means that unless the installation is flawless (and sometimes even then) it will creak.
