Yes, but Ventura ran as a conservative. They now have a Democratic governor who will send another Democrat as a temporary replacement. It's hard to believe that they'll be able to find anyone more radically left than the clown that just resigned.

Or maybe he won't resign.

Everyone needs to realize that this is all a political game. His party is forcing him to resign in the event that Roy Moore gets elected. They feel that Franken's resignation will make it easier for them to remove Moore.

If Moore wins, watch for the circus to begin. There will be investigations and hearings none of which will produce anything other than to get members of Congress some face time on television. That is what it is all about, getting your face and name out there so that you will be re-elected or considered for higher office. If you think that any of this is about anything, you're naive.
