That is a great plan, and my prayer for you and your wife would be exactly the same as D's. One of my very best friends and her husband decided to do the same thing you are doing now - travel the world while they were able as her husband had a lot of health issues and they weren't sure they would be able to wait until retirement to do so. My beloved friend (not her husband) died this past July of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer at the age of 60. So you just never know. I thank God they did get a lot of traveling in, even after her diagnosis. She was an amazing witness to what it's like to have hope, peace, and joy despite your circumstances.
I have had a lot of tragedy this past year. My sister-in-law died in May one month shy of her 62nd birthday. She was hoping to retire early and begin to enjoy full-time the hobbies she loved. She had what appeared to be a viral respiratory infection. Then when she realized she needed to get another opinion, she found out she had lung cancer secondary to another cancer that had probably been lingering in her body for at least a year. She died 2 weeks after being diagnosed.
I'm sorry to be sharing all this sad news. Maybe I needed the catharsis. It still brings me to tears when I speak of them. But my point is, let NOTHING get in the way of your dreams. Time is precious and you just never know because we don't hold the cards. Treasure every moment you have together.
