If you can work around electricity take a face plate off of a wall switch and use a flash light to see if you can see the stud.
Note it could be that you have wood studs in the walls that face the outside and metal in the interior rooms.
Also the door/windows could have wooden studs and the rest of the wall metal.
If all else fails try removing part of the wall that is inside a bathroom cabinet or closet. You could cut a hole about 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long. Use you smart phone to take a flash picture of the inside of the wall. Good luck.
