I mounted a TV last year but used an interior wall and found there was both metal and wood studs. I had to move my intented location a couple of times until I could find a wood stud and then work around metal studs hiding the wires.

Even easier is using Snap Toggles. NEVER use a metal stud to try and hang a TV or any heavy object. You don't need to worry about finding a stud. Snap toggles are rated for various weights, and are perfect for this purpose.
