The exception to this rule is one homeowner who owns a home on a corner lot has had a bright blue roofing material over more than 1/2 of his roof since the hurricane came and went. We are now in January, more than six months after hurricane Irma and the roof has not been repaired. If I thought the homeowner just didn't have the money for the repair I could say that possibly he was justified in taking so much time but, this homeowner just had his lanai enclosed with glass windows so I don't think money is an issue. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what if anything can be done. This home is a terrible eyesore and sticks out like a very sore thumb..

It may not be that simple. I lost part of my back roof from Irma, had called several roofers immediately, and have had no response from any. The company that did the original roof on my house (4 years old) didn't even keep a master list in their office, they just handed addresses to their roofers who would "call when on their way", and if you weren't available, just cross you off and move on. Another roofer stated he was 4 months behind, and I've never heard from him either. Today I called again and pretended that I never called in the first place---they said they would be out within a week. Fortunately, my underlayment is completely intact, there is no blue tarp (eyesore), and there are no leaks (yet). I would suggest asking the neighbor if he has had problems (nightmares) securing the services of a roofer.
