We will be going to St. Lukes in Lake Sumter Landing and we have the brochure on cataract surgery. The surgery with the standard lenses is covered by insurance but they show upgraded lenses for $2000.00 an eye and another for $3000.00 an eye. We wonder if these upgrades are really worth the extra expense since we know several people that have had the surgery and got the standard lenses and have all had no issues and now see 20 - 20 but need to use reading glasses for close up. There is also NO GUARANTEE that if you get those $3000.00 premium lenses ($6000.00 for both eyes) that you will not have to wear glasses for close up. Any additional thoughts would be appreciated.
I have had cataracts removed and replaced both times with the high end lenses. I now have great vison with both eyes and do not need to use reading glasses. Worth the extra money if you can afford it.

I used Dr Janks of Ocala Eye here in TV, excellent eye surgeon and great service.
