Though the price of jet fuel has skyrocketed (no pun intended...), just like gasoline, and this really does have to be factored in, in truth this is exactly what the airlines are doing. There are fewer scheduled flights, and beyond this they are canceling flights to keep the remaining flights full.

We are especially disappointed with American Airlines, with which I have over a million miles (lifetime elite). Our small local airport (Stewart Newburgh) accommodated them to such a degree that one would have thought that they had some obligation, and a few years they downgraded their presence at the airport from AA to American Eagle, and last year they pulled out altogether. Now they are pulling out of Albany on November 1, 2008. I can do without airline food; HB prefers to bring our own anyway. But service? Forget it!
