Just once I'd like to see a really good independent restaurant opened here, like the small establishments opened in Winter Park by REAL trained chefs who know quality fresh ingredients and stylish (not imitative) presentation. I'd rather pay more and get quality, freshly prepared food than pay cheap prices for cheap food. Would a restaurant like that be successful in The Villages?
Doubtful unless things have changed. Talking to some that have been here for a long time, restaurant's that provide higher quality continually do market studies and so far, they don't cross the bar. Asiantree had it right, there are quality places outside the bubble but they don't rely on Villagers for the majority of their business. I remember when Tapas opened in Brownwood, the posts were all about the prices and the small portions....which is what Tapas is all about. But not here. Not sure if Blue Fin is a franchise since there are other places with same name around the country or totally local. I will give it a chance and reserve judgement until they open.
