Another reason I prefer nurseries is that I've had better luck finding more mature plants than either Home Depot or Lowe's.
As to more mature plants they of course will cost more. Is it worth it? That is for you to answer. For me, the answer is depends.

As to plants offered. I would suggest we all read before buying. As an ex-New Yorker, I used to have a great collection of Peonies. Home Depo, Lowes, Walmart and ???? all offer them for sale. They need cold. I think I read
if you want them to bloom here you need to grow them in pots and put them in the refrigerator over the winter-not for me.

There is so much information available to you on the internet. READ before you purchase. Perhaps, ask on Talk of the Villages as to how they do here. Our soil in most of the villages is sandy clay with a high PH-alkaline.

All the stores are selling blueberry plants. If you buy them, they need acidic soil and lots of moisture we have neither.
If, you insist on buying them, you will need to either change you soil, will take year or grow them in very large pots. I DO. Gonna have a good crop this year-IF THE BIRDS DON'T FIND OUT YET AGAIN.

HAPPY GARDENING-IN MY OPINION-PLANTS YOU OR YOUR NEIGHBOR WRAP IN BLANKETS IN THE WINTER ARE MISTAKES YOU OR YOUR NEIGHBOR SHOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT.
