I disagree with never buying collision insurance the reason being if you're involved in a not at fault accident the insurance company pays to repair your car within days and the insurance company is your advocate if it goes to court. Without collision you're pretty much on your own and you might never collect a dime. That happened to me when my car was totaled when rear ended by an uninsured driver. I sued the other driver and got a judgement for $5,000 (almost 30 years ago) but he didn't have two nickels to rub together. Many people are under the impression that courts award you money. They don't. You get a judgement and it's up to you to collect.
