The good thing, Nucky, is you're already there enjoying the lifestyle that is TV. Essentially a house is just a place to rest your head. But like you, I love thinking about/looking for a new home. Dreaming about it is one thing though, actually walking through the process is a bipolar experience to say the least - excited, frustrated, happy, sad, etc, etc.....oh my.
As Ken said, time is on your side. Don't settle. Wait it out until you find exactly what you want or "wear down to", because that's often times what happens. Unless you can build it yourself with no restrictions, finding the perfect house is almost impossible. Just when you think you've got it, there's always that one last thing - price a little higher than you wanted, orientation of the house not quite right, etc. That's what I mean about "wearing down" - it's a process and you usually end up giving in to one or two initial desires.
In the meantime, thinking of you and praying you find it. I have a feeling in a few years, we'll be doing the same. We plan to come down and settle in our patio villa first, then give ourselves time to scope the place out and see what our interests will be, what our retired life will really be like, before buying our next home. So keep us posted, Nucky. Your experience will be valuable to those of us who will be walking in your shoes in a few years.
