OP, there are kits available from Lowe's and Home Depot that offer wireless control, these typically fit in the area close to the ceiling. Also, in the same areas of both stores they have replacement wall switches that offer independent control of light and fan speed. NOTE: you will need to check to see if your house was wired with the additional RED wire from the wall switch to the fan, if you have this the wall switches are a good option.
