I rarely venture into religious discussion (and this stupid laptop I'm having to use because mine broke won't let me bold your first statement) but I just want to point out that this is how Jesus taught people to pray--anonymously, in a room, by yourself. Mathew 6:5-8. (I remember it, but I had to look up chapter/verse.)
I've often wondered why we help others, or pray, give, not steal... having to do with your second statement. I'm hoping that there is a connection between the two somehow. Maybe most of us are born decent and good. There's debate about that too.
I wish I had something profound to say about it all. I hope the good prevails in the majority of us.
