First of all there are many velcro copies. The ones I am thinking about come from china and are far less expensive.
THEY DO NOT HOLD AS WELL OR LAST AS LONG.
Velcro if you look at it is nylon hooks that catches a fabric material. I looses holding power as it is used and as it gets dirty. Also, it is held in place with a contact adhesive. I expect the adhesive also looses holding power over time and in heat.
I hope there are better solutions.
