Rude. Crude. Lewd. And downright cruel and callous.

We are in the throes of the effect of our 24/7 media that allows people to pick their own poison.

Those among us who have a more hateful bent than others have had that tapped into and now think they can let it all hang out.

Friendships, families, neighborhoods, churches, clubs, and even marriages are being affected as people allow themselves to be under the influence of the screens that surround us. Big screens, little screens, everywhere screens, screens, screens, telling us what to think, giving us a reason to be angry, every day — angry. People are abdicating their individual ability to think things through and to question — and to see each other. It has all happened so fast.

Jon Meacham, who is a well- known historian and Pulitzer Prize winning biographer, has a new book. The title is The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels.

It’s not just in TV. It’s everywhere. — Sometimes I am glad I am kind of old.
Great post.

Really enjoy Meacham.

Cannot say more...."mother" (not mods) are watching. Get too close, and your post will disappear.

Meacham has a great feel for history and results of present on future. Plus he is a great writer.
