Those among us who have a more hateful bent than others have had that tapped into and now think they can let it all hang out.

Big screens, little screens, everywhere screens, screens, screens, telling us what to think, giving us a reason to be angry, every day — angry. People are abdicating their individual ability to think things through and to question — and to see each other. It has all happened so fast.

Jon Meacham, who is a well- known historian and Pulitzer Prize winning biographer, has a new book. The title is The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels.

It’s not just in TV. It’s everywhere. — Sometimes I am glad I am kind of old.
