No matter that there are so many users of Talk of the Villages, only twice have we had 40 people at the Crispers meeting.. Most of the time there is about a dozen. The Rec centers allow you to use the room if you have a certain amount of people. If you drop to a few, you lose use of the room.
More do come when the administrators of the site send a reminder, which happened twice. It is often the same people every time with two or three newbies and there was never any pot stirrer's or any eyebrow raising comments.
There was never anything close to a heated discussion either. Kathie was in charge for a long time and then several of us took turns and then Ellen was the hostess for several years. It ended when Crispers was shut down in May of 2017. We would meet on the patio if it was comfortable weather, at three on the third Friday and maybe a third would get food, most of the rest would order cold drinks. The host had people sign in and people could sign their real name or their screen name so we have a record of who attended. Only once in my attendance did the previous administrator attend a meeting and the in laws of the current owner attended several times.
I gathered people from TOTV for snacks and dessert at our home three times. We had about 40 each time. About ten years ago many of us would meet "under the clock" at Lake Sumter Landing for evening TOTV get togethers. We had some fun times and Sam Hass organized a "freeze on the dance floor" where all of us from TOTV stopped in a frozen position for several minutes, not expected by the other dancers. We had a ghost hunt one year that ended up on a creepy road just outside TV where a couple girls swore they saw a sheet draped figure. Sam Hass had a bunch of the women to her house several times. Many loved posters on TOTV have passed away. We have some really great memories of good times, and a good reason to keep them going.
