For the new courtyard villas, the actual property line runs between the adjacent houses, basically down the center line with an equal distance between the houses. However, there is an easement that allows you, as a property owner, to control the property in front of your front door, outside the fence, and extending to the exterior wall of the next door neighbor. You actually have control, for landscaping purposes, to use your neighbor's property in that area. However, inside the fence, your neighbor has control of the property up to your house exterior wall. That exterior wall typically does not have any windows, and you need to get permission to enter your neighbor's fence gate if you want to inspect or maintain your windowless exterior wall. It sounds confusing, but that is the way it is set up, and described in the documents.
