It was built by Fredrick Church, one of the orginal Artists of the Hudson Valley. He died and his son Louie Church took over the Castle. When he died Jacklyn Kennedy and her friends bought the castle and many many acres and it was turned into a national Historic Site by Gov. Rockefeller. They give regular tours each day. It is worth the side trip.

The Castle on the Hudson was a place I had bookmarked and wanted to someday go to but now that my family is no longer up there it is unlikely I will go back up that way again.
