This may come as a bit of a shock, Cassie, but I totally agree with you. I have/had ultimate respect for Russert, both professionally and personally. He may have been, as his best friend Imus described, "half a commie" but he bent over backwards to be fair and honest in his interviews, or as I'm sure many of his guests felt, his inquisitions.
Meet the Press today is a pale imitation of his days.
An aside -- not exactly literary masterpiece, but I strongly recommend
Big Russ and Me. It helps understand what made the man.
