You can only drop off cats/kittens at specific County Shelters if you live in that county. They will ask for your ID so if you don't live in a no kill shelter County get friend that lives in one to go with you so they provide ID. Be sure the shelter is a no-kill facility. We (Calumet Grove/Marion County) just captured 7 kittens once they were old enough to eat on their own. Two wonderful ladies fostered them and are now in the process of giving them shots and getting them neutered and spayed to the tune of $1700+. They have a GoFundMe.com site (when there search "Jiminy's six-pack of kittens") for anyone that would like to help them defer their costs. We then "Safe-Trapped" the mother and suspected father. The kitten ladies took them to them to a no-kill shelter to be spayed, neutered, and put up for adoption. Try to capture the kittens and parents and get them "fixed" or there will be more on the way soon.
