Well, it seems that actually you are "slower" cooking with optionally "flavored" wood that isn't as messy as charcoal. You can also very slow cook (smoke) foods like ribs or chicken. You also have full control of grill and food temperatures that on a better models is digitally monitored for accurate temps unlike lpg or coal and can also be accurately controlled remotely by an phone app.
