Uber and a second company called Lyft are nationwide and may even be worldwide. They are very successful and in many areas have run taxis out of business. You solicit an Uber car with your smart phone ap and your credit card info is on file. I've read of many cases and disputes where Uber drivers have put additional fees on passengers accounts for clean up, damage and other misc events. So you're not off the hook for anything you may have done.
