First let me state that as an RN, I have been personally involved in the post-hospital care of patients who have undergone open heart surgery in Leesburg Hospital. Everyone of them has nothing but praise for the post-surgical care in that facility and I have seen few, if ANY post-op complications, IF the patient follows the doctors orders once discharged. The next thing that most people do not understand, your cardiologist is not the one who will be performing the surgery. Most cardiologists do their own catheterizations and stents but if you need an open-heart procedure, it will be the LOHI group in Leesburg doing same and they have an excellent reputation and great outcomes. As for choices in cardiologists, Dr G Couterier is very good as are the doctors at Florida Heart and Vascular, Dr Garcia's group is very good, I've heard/seen good things from Dr Miryala, Dr Attante, Dr Yelamanchi...... for the 17+ plus years I have been working in home health care in this area, I have always said we have great cardiologists and orthopaedists available..... as far as primary care, internists.... the jury is still out.... but it is getting better...... much better than it was 17 years ago...... Just do your due diligence and check them out in physician searches and from people you know who have first hand experience with them. And as another poster said.... don't worry about bedside manner, worry about expertise..... as a previous operating room RN, I found most often the one with the worst bedside manner was the best surgeon..... but that's a whole other story......
