Today is Tuesday, September 11th. I don't need to remind anyone of the significance of that date. Where were you that day in 2001? Oddly, I was sitting in a Pep Boys waiting room with a bunch of strangers, all of us at that moment having been brought to a moment of common concern regarding the fragility of our humanity. I remember trying to call my husband at work and how difficult it was to reach him because cell phone lines were jammed. I also remember being grateful that my son was in a school at the time that still believed in prayer and I knew he would be surrounded by people who would care for him. And who could forget the pit in our stomachs that we all felt not knowing what exactly was going on and if any of our loved ones were harmed.
to all those who lost loved ones 17 years ago today.

I was at work and my friend came over and said have you heard what happened? I was terrified because my daughter was working just blocks from there and I could not get a hold of her for hours. She said the first thing they saw was office supplies flying against their window. After that it got much worse. For years she would no longer go to lower Manhattan. NOTHING but horrifying.
