What has been interesting with Mr. Gibson is the manner and content of the interview. There seemed little in the way of issue-inquiry. The intent appeared to be to try to portray Gov. Palin, a 44-year-old woman who has been successful as an elected executive in a state epitomised for rugged individualism (and more macho than anywhere else), as unqualified for VP or President. Ironically, I can remember no comparable interviews by Mr. Gibson or his network with Sen. Obama, a 47 year-old male with no government executive experience and a Senate absentee rate (first term, half over) so bad it would have resulted in being expelled from any college or fired from a private industry job.

The media/press format interviews, and edit accordingly, to present a predesigned image. This is not journalism, but entertainment. If the same questions, content and innuendo were asked of Sen. Obama by Mr. Gibson or his network, then a semblance of impartiality would be demonstrated.

It's like the old Two-car auto race story. One network reports that in the two-car race, Car Alpha won; while the other network reports that in a prestigious car race, Car Bravo came in second, while Car Alpha came in next-to-last. Both are technically correct, but what was the intended message?
