It is well known that crime is age related; thus 55 and over communities enjoy low crime rates simply because older adults commit far fewer crimes than young adults.
Adult children living with their parents rather than out on their own, if they are not caregivers or care recipients, usually have serious issues coping with life, issues such as substance abuse, histories of criminal behavior, consequent incarceration and mental instability. Therefore even relative to their age group as a whole they commit more crimes as recidivism rates are high.
