The next meeting of The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club will be Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Colony Cottage Recreation Center, going green at 7 p.m.
The guest speaker is Joie Chitwood III, Executive VP and COO of International Speedway Corporation (ISC).
Chitwood has been at race tracks his entire life, beginning with his family's business, the Chitwood Thrill Show.
Joie was VP and GM of Raceway Associates, which oversaw the construction and operation of Chicagoland Speedway. He later served as President and COO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Chitwood joined ISC in 2009 as VP of Business Operations. In 2010 he assumed the role of President of Daytona International Speedway. He spearheaded the track’s repave project in 2010, as well as overseeing ISC’s Daytona Rising transformation project.
In his current role, Chitwood is responsible for the operations of all ISC race facilities and the food and beverage business.
