I taught kids with ADD and ADHD for 30 years. The best medication is the one that works for the child. There are many choices and if the first one doesn't help, speak to the child's pediatrician about trying another. Unfortunately, there isn't a magic bullet that works for all. A child psychologist won't be able to prescribe medication but could be a great resource. Also, once the proper diagnosis is made, request that a 504 Plan be written to make accommodations for the classroom. Wishing the best for the child.
