Lots of interesting people in the Villages and near them. A few years ago I listened a lot to a man who used to manage the NYC subway system. And often talked to a NYC retired art teacher. And an off Broadway NYC retired dancer. All while avoiding dog poop. Some of the time.

I have only seen NYC from a distance but never been there.

My older brother was in NYC a few months ago to meet with a bunch of possible publishers of his book but he has yet to find one. They have some kind of meeting of potential selling writers getting together with publishing houses in the Summers. Something some of the budding writers here in the Villages or nearby might want to look into.

Lots of writers in my family. It seems to be a family addiction.
My daughter lived in Manhattan for many years and we used to go there often. It is NOTHING but a great place to visit but I could never understand why she would want to live there, although she did meet her husband there.
